“Second Amendment Weekend” Makes Good Cents

Looking to buy a gun? Why not save yourself a little money?

Check out the two states hosting a “Second Amendment Weekend” sales tax holiday over the next two weeks.

  • Purchases on firearms, ammunition and hunting gear made in Mississippi between Aug. 26-28 will be exempt from the state’s 7% sales tax.
  • Purchases of non-commercial firearms purchases made in Louisiana from Sept. 2-4 will be exempt from the state’s 5% sales tax.

The only thing better than buying a new gun is saving money on that new gun!

But don’t forget: gun sales are always free of sales tax in Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon – the five states in the United States with no sales tax.

And since the government ruins almost everything, all gun and ammunition purchases are still subject to excise taxes imposed by the federal government.

Happy shopping!
