FN America issued a mandatory recall for hundreds for FN SCAR rifles, according to Aug. 10 announcement.
The gun maker says certain FN SCAR 17S rifles contain a bolt that does not meet internal hardness specifications and firing the rifles could result in catastrophic failure. A total of 417 defective rifles were shipped July 28-29.
FN said it’s hoping to contain the issue at the distributor level, but in the event that any of the affected SCARS has been sold, it will reach out to the customer directly.
If the rifle has been sold, the company is asking owners to stop using the rifles immediately and return the firearm to the company for inspection. FN also asks that retailers that have one in stock, that they do not sell it. The product recall covers:
- Product: FN SCAR 17S
