Coming in the news, Russia inducts Hypersonic missile, which can travel five times faster than the speed of sound. Russians have named it “Zircon”, General Zircon is the oldest mineral found in the crust of the earth. Zircon could be very devastating for the western world navy fleets.
Zircon has a speed of about 4,600 miles per hours, which is about 7402 Km/h and approximately 124 Km/second. It has become one of the fastest missile on the planet, which can be alarming for NATO and Americans.
The Kremlin has called the missile “unstoppable” and “unbreachable”, which is quite a correct statement in itself. No other air-defence of any country can intercept this missile. Russians possess the capabilities to intercept and destroy the missile, Russians have both venom and it’s antidote with them at the same time.
Zircon uses scramjet engine technology to gain hypersonic speed, the propulsion is generated by the mix of fuel and oxygen, unlike other missiles, this missile doesn’t carry its own oxidizer and it takes oxygen from the atmosphere. The oxygen supply to the combustor where it mixes with onboard fuel and creates thrust to move the missile.
The hypersonic missile is in testing stage and is already presenting great threats to various blue water navies. Zircon is is capable to destroy the world most advance ships and aircraft carriers in one strike. The Zircon could be fitted on Russia’s nuclear-powered Kirkov warship, where it would have range of up to 500 miles. Zircov will be in action by the year 2020.
US and British Navy is on their way to extreme expanision but they have their fears now with Zircon coming in the picture. Britain’s new state of the art $7.5 billion dollar carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales will be vulnerable to Zircon. They have to anchor beyond the range of Zircon to mark themselves safe but it will hamper their operational effectiveness. US is working since a long time to counter hypersonic missiles through his laser technology.
