West Virginia Wins Fifth Straight, 19th Overall NCAA Rifle National Championship

The West Virginia Mountaineer rifle team set a NCAA Championship match score record on their way to becoming a 19-time National Champion, winning the NCAA Rifle National Championship for the fifth straight year.

Sophomore and Olympic gold medalist Ginny Thrasher put the Mountaineers over the top when she finished strong, shooting six straight 10s to finish with a score of 595 out of 600. The Mountaineers finished the air rifle competition with a season high score of 2387 and an aggregate score of 4723, just three points of West Virginia’s season high score of 4726.

Freshman Milica Babic won the individual Air Rifle National Championship with a score of 208.1, with fellow Mountaineer freshman Morgan Phillips finishing second with a score of 207.2. With Babic’s win, a West Virginia female shooter has now won the NCAA air rifle title in three straight seasons, and four times since 2013.
