Revision Military has been awarded a contract worth about $98 million to make the latest version of the Advanced Combat Helmet for the U.S. Army.
The Newport, Vermont firm is slated to manufacture 293,870 units of the Advanced Combat Helmet Generation II, according to a Defense Department contract announcement.
The ACH Gen II is about 24 percent lighter than the current helmet which has an average weight of three pounds.
The Advanced Combat Helmet was developed and tested by Army Special Operations Command to replace the Personnel Armor System for Ground Troops, or PASGT, helmet. Various U.S. military units and services began fielding the ACH 2003.
The helmet includes an improved 4-Point Retention and Pad Suspension System, which attaches at four points to the shell with ballistic resistant hardware.
Revision is scheduled to complete the order in March of 2022.
